What Other People Think.

Scott Alexander is a white male singer-songwriter. HeÂ’s tall, some might say handsome, but kinda chunky. He is also awfully self-conscious. With awkward charm, Scott exposes his genuine desire to befriend the audience, going so far as to serve his own fresh vegan cookies at every performance. Declared one of the top 25 CDÂ’s of 2007 by indie-music.com, ScottÂ’s most recent album exhibits inspiration from artists such as The Violent Femmes, Jonathan Richman, Magnetic Fields, and David Byrne. The influence of his classical training is also apparent with bassoon solos and his signature and unique song structures. Catchy for about 6 seconds at a time, his music is void of verse-refrain repetition, opting instead for a constant melodic and rhythmic flux that emphasizes a range of topics far beyond the default love song. Often solo with an electric baritone guitar (tuned between a standard and bass guitar), ScottÂ’s music is appropriately naked, bearing and embracing every nuance of an unstable moment. With shockingly direct vocals Scott eagerly invites others to revel at the nexus of sincerity and self-consciousness. Maestro Alexander grew up on the tough streets of Mendota Heights, Minnesota and studied bassoon and lute at the Peabody Conservatory. He then transferred to UCLA where he earned a degree in ethnomusicology. He has been featured in several music magazines, college radio, and will be showcased in an upcoming documentary by Melissa Lefton. He is currently recording two new albums to be released simultaneously in the fall.

Performing July 21st at Pianos, FREE show upstairs

New York-based art-pop band the Click Clack Boom merges the harmonies of the Beach Boys with the tautness of XTC, while remaining true to garage-rock roots. Originally hailing from central Pennsylvania, the group came into being after singer/songwriter/guitarist Nathaniel Hoho released his debut EP, in the fall of 2007. Soon after, the musicians that had helped to record the album came together with Hoho to form The Click Clack Boom. The group's distinctive sound has gained respect from audiences across the country and from attendees at both the 2008 CMJ Music Conference in New York, as well as the 2009 South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Texas. The Click Clack Boom is currently working on a full-length album, due for release in 2009. For more information, visit www.clickclackboom.com and www.myspace.com/hohohosound.

Our little band has members living in both Asheville, NC and Brooklyn now, so it is always a joyous occasion when we are able to fully unite for a show in Brooklyn. We'll be playing at Bruar Falls in Wburg on Saturday, June 27th. This will be our first time playing at this club, though we've had the pleasure of enjoying their other spot, Cake Shop, many times. Also on the show, Your Nature and Ghost Gamblers from Brooklyn, and Javelins from Detroit (with members of Thunderbirds Are Now!).

Pop/Rock Singer/Songwriter Kimberly Korn

Singer/songwriter Kimberly Korn has had stars in her eyes and glitter in her hair since she was a little girl. Mesmerized by Broadway, Barbies and Ballerinas, Kimberly began dancing at 2 1/2 years old and rarely took off her recital costumes. As a member of the elementary school choir, Kimberly preferred tutus and sequins over her choir uniform and didn't like harmonizing as part of a group. Her choir teacher suggested she study privately with famed-vocal coach Russell Faith in Philadelphia. After several years of vocal training, Kimberly was itching to break into the New York music scene. She spent her adolescent years shuttling between Philadelphia and New York doing the "Fame" thing: attending Stagedoor Manor Performing Arts Camp with Natalie Portman and Mandy Moore, dancing with the Joffrey Ballet and choreographers Mia Michaels and Debbie Allen, and singing roles in Off-Broadway musicals, such as Meatloaf-producer Jim Steinman's "Paradise." Kimberly made a name for herself performing at various local clubs such as the Bitter End and ArleneÂ’s Grocery, incorporating her passion for theatre, dance, music and outrageous fashion. Sensitive to the human condition, Kimberly creates music that attests to lifeÂ’s struggles.

Telltale + Soundpool + Soren Well - June 27th!

This Saturday, June 27th Telltale will be part of an amazing line-up at Public Assembly including Soundpool, Soren Well, and The Vandelles. Telltale showcases an intriguing mix of experimental no-wave, reverb-soaked post-punk, and dark shoegaze. The quartet's ear-splitting washes of guitar feedback, deadpan chants and ominous droning wastelands doesn't so much blanket you as it does envelop you, overpowering you with Sonic Youth caterwauls and JAMC-esque walls of sound. They are in the process of recording a 7 song EP at Honeyland Studio that will be released later in the summer. Headlining is the NYC based 5 piece Soundpool. The Vadelles are on at 11 and Soren Well (who also have a new record coming out very soon) are on at 10pm. You don't want to miss this show. Doors at 8pm.

Multi-Instrumentalist Matty Amendola's New Album.

(June 18, 2009 – New York, NY) – On June 22, 2009, multi-instrumentalist songwriter Matty Amendola will release his second studio album, Life Commercials. The record is an exciting blend of funky drums and bass, scorching rock/pop guitars and vocals that encourage sing-along summer anthems. “There’s a little of everything on this album,” explains Matty. “Songs about life, songs about love, heavy songs, catchy songs, sad songs, happy songs…. I really tried to capture every emotion through the beauty of sound.” The first single from Life Commercials, entitled “Summer,” is a bright, feel-good song that captures the cool, light breeze of a beautiful sunny day spent with someone special. Every track on the record displays Matty’s range of musical styles, from the funky “Afro Type Sh*t” to the catchy pop of “Hide.” Matty’s creative and unique melodies and harmony carry lyrics with a strong message. In the chorus of Matty’s opening track, “Now,” he sings, “Too much thought about the future might strain your eyes. Teach yourself presence is everything. So do what you wanna do right now!” Every listener can find something to relate to on the album, with lyrics that tap into the deep emotions of falling in love and the epiphanies that come with finding life in all that surrounds you. “This whole album was about expressing my thoughts while trying to stay honest to myself,” says Matty. “Honest music is my favorite genre.” As he did on his previous album, =Ecstasy, Matty sings and plays all the tracks on Life Commercials. But this time, he adds the expertise of a few guest musicians. Nick Diaz, a well-known blues guitarist from Texas, is featured playing slide guitar in the style of George Harrison on “Free.” New York City session guitarist Jay Shepard adds banjo on the echoing instrumentals of “Sickest Old Man.” Jena Kraus, who formerly sang with Blind Melon, joins Matty on vocals for the acoustic track “100 Shades of Blue in 1 Sky.” Matty’s insatiable creative energy led him to begin recording Life Commercials only a week after the release of his debut album, =Ecstasy. He wrote and produced all material on the album, utilizing three different studios to achieve the exact sound he envisioned. Matty works with Grammy Award-winning audio engineer Butch Jones (Rolling Stones, Talking Heads, Madonna), who describes their process as a “real charge.” Matty’s debut solo release, =Ecstasy, began as an experiment for the studio drummer. His learning process resulted in a successful combination of Matty’s multi-talented musicianship and catchy pop hooks, creating a unique sound and vibe all his own. In the year since =Ecstasy, Matty has kept himself busy producing and performing for many projects. Currently, he is in the studio producing a record for vocalist Jena Kraus. # # # For more information, visit mattyamendola.com and myspace.com/mattyamendola. Music Video

Someday Static emerged after a period of transition with members and musical direction. In 2008, guitarist Artem Chernogod and vocalist Malin Bray renamed the band "Someday Static," referring to the universal desire to find calm and contentment in life. Monica Ott's debut album "Only Human"

Monica Ott is a NYC singer/songwriter who's just released her debut album “Only Human". It was produced by Joe Bonadio (Marc Cohn, Martin Sexton) and Monica and mixed and mastered by Robert L. Smith of Defy Recordings (David Bowie, Rickie Lee Jones). Originally from Baltimore, MD, Monica moved to NYC after college to pursue her dream as a professional singer/songwriter. Feeling frustrated with the business, Monica sought out one of NYC's top vocal coaches, Tina Shafer (Vanessa Carlton) and quickly became a member of the NYC Songwriter's Circle (what some industry insiders refer to as the "real American Idol") Beating out thousands of other participants in last year’s songwriting competition, Monica won an honorable mention for her song “Perfect Circle.” Her song “The Way We Used to Be” is also featured on their “Best of-Volume One” compilation cd that will be released nationally this Summer. Stay tuned for details about the release party for "Only Human," the new website (www.monicaott.com), and tour dates
