Lars Casteen (blogger, reviewer, editor) is a writer and musician who has self-produced a number of recordings over the years with a variety of bands, including WTII Records recording artist The Qualia, as well as having years of experience working in television post-production. Specializing in a variety of musical styles, from synth-pop to country, from rock to soundscapes, Lars is a true believer in the freeing power of home and project studios for developing producers, performers, and songwriters. There’s no one solution in music that will fit every musician, and Lars’s goal in writing is to help artists and producers stumble into the techniques that will best help them grow and find their own voice.

Michael Vecchio (blogger, reviewer) came from a musical family and began recording and playing several instruments at the age of six. When he discovered The Cro-Mags in 10th grade he threw in the towel on his formal training and began playing in bands. With his Tascam 4-track, and later an 8-track, he was not only a member of several bands, but also their engineer/producer. Years later, Vecchio found his way to New York City where he met hailed Deitch Projects artist Haluk Akakce, with whom he collaborated on a series of installation film and sound pieces. Michael Vecchio currently works at the legendary Clinton Recording Studios, where he has worked with the likes of Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, John Fogerty, Wyclef Jean, McCoy Tyner and Ravi Coltrane.

Ryan Abeling
(blogger, reviewer) is an editor for several audio/video magazines that freelances on several subjects in his spare time. Between writing music with his band and mixing in his home studio, Ryan is an avid gear head that spends his lunches wandering through guitar stores and pondering what not to buy.

Peter Lewandowski (blogger, reviewer) As most engineers, I started out as a musician. I took an interest in recording when I had to record my first demo CD. It sounded like garbage, and that annoyed me because I was always obsessed with the tone of music, and how everything coming through the speakers just blended together seamlessly. I decided to go to school for audio engineering at Five Towns College and graduated with a Bachelors Degree. Currently, I am freelancing as a recording and mixing engineer. My two most recent projects are Hip Hop is Alive by G.i.C., and The Chapters of Life by G.i.C. & Funk Face.

Tony Grund (blogger, reviewer) began working in the music industry in 1999, producing and arranging music for pop artists in Japan, where he helped several albums make it to no. 1 on the Japanese charts. After growing tired of J-pop, he and his wife (singer, Ryoko Otani) moved to the NYC area to work on their own project, echostream. He is also co-founder of Sync•Tank, a new electronica evening in the East Village.
