Lisa Donnelly's been a floating L.A. artist for quite some time -- prior to going solo, she was a college student wondering whether music would be a feasible career, and, shortly after finding answers, fronted a few groups that include the now-defunct A.M. Pacific.

The pop/rock songstress has a smoky voice rooted in a sort of old blues wisdom, but don't presume a thing: the strictly melodic route Donnelly takes is led by her confident vocals, and not vice versa, as typical in modern pop politics. Whether backed by dramatic pedal steels or merry quarter-note piano chords, Donnelly knows what it takes to channel sincerity in any context.
