5-Track Loves
I eat music for breakfast. I swing from it on invisible
ropes. The perspective that sees hands, fingers, guitar, amplifier is
not the true perspective. This is merely the inner digestive workings
of reality. From the outside, the proper p.o.v., it is clear that all
of these things are ONE. I am from Vermont, by way of Seattle. Los
Angeles is hot. It affects my music. Expression is an inevitable side
effect of creativity. The kingdom of heaven is within. I play music
for rooms, for open spaces, sometimes for people. People are often
less appreciative, though I think they need it more. I am from the
planet Neptune. I need water to live. Did I mention Los Angeles is
hot? And dry. Love, 5-Track.

College
Radios
what can they do for
my band? |
|
In this day and age, we should be thankful that
college radio still exists, static-y and awkward

pump the same boring playlists into every city,
and in many cases have ceased to provide live,
local DJs to give the station any personality
(be it comments on local bands, events, or even
the weather), college radio provides unique,
local voices to the airwaves and internet. -

protect your band's

|
The reputation and recognition of an artist’s
music is built around the artist’s professional
name, which is what consumers use to identify
the artists they enjoy. Therefore, an individual
artist or group pursuing a career in the music
industry should take the necessary steps to
protect his, her or its professional name.

Making a recording is a tangle of pragmatism,
technology, alchemy and faith. As is the case
with any creative venture, you cannot know what
you'll get for your efforts until you go through
the process; it's always a gamble. Having a
plan and a budget can be really useful.

home vs. professional studios |

When recording devices were the size of washing
machines, having a professional studio in one's
bedroom or apartment was a little impractical.
With the advent of hard disk recording, sometimes
the most practical place in the world to record
is, in fact, one's home. My how things have

One of the things I like best about working
in a great studio is having immediate access
to mass quantities of obscure, expensive equipment.
If you've never been in the luxuriant position
of having more great gear than you can use,
you haven't yet fulfilled your destiny as a
recording engineer. -

Cool Painting Posted by FURBjr on August 26th, 2008 Does facial hair affect your mood. If you have a beard does it affect your output as a musician. Is it a negative affect? If so, consider shaving with a straight razor. JOE RENO Posted by 5-Track on August 13th, 2008 The painting, by the way, is by Joe Reno. Joe is one of Seattle's little-known local treasures. He painted that picture of me in about ten minutes while Snoose Junction was playing.PS Thanks for the post!
