Square People to Remember Where They Play

Square People is new band out of Nashville, featuring mix of sounds like electronic drums and fuzzy synthesizers. NO guitars are ever featured, or any other symbols of oppressive patriarchy/Oedipal-trianglez. The demo EP is called Cosmic Sans and is available for download at the myspace page. Check it out!! Fans of Prince and Black Dice and Arto Lindsey take note!

THOSE DARLINS BEST OF NASHVILLE & NEXT BIG NASHVILLE PICK:

"If history has taught us anything, it's that punk rock and old-time country music have more in common than anyone would have ever suspected. The Murfreesboro, TN, trio known as Those Darlins illustrate this truism. [They] banded together over their love of The Carter Family's deadpan, crazed music and bring an energy to live performance that recalls the antics of punk heroes such as The Cramps...If the folks who ran the Grand Ole Opry had any sense, Those Darlins would be hawking Goo Goo Clusters and stirring up audiences with originals such as "The Whole Damn Thing," a tale of unrepentant chicken-eating." -EDD HURT, Nashville Scene

1) 10PM Tuesday, April 8th at Rockwood:

The phenomenal Michael Daves will be on at 10PM. For more info on Michael please check out this NYTimes article on roots music in NYC.

2) 8PM Thursday, April 10th at SoundFix in the heart of Williamsburg (110 Bedford Avenue) w/ The Jones Street Boys and Aoife O'Donovan (Crooked Still) & Kristin Andreassen (Uncle Earl).

No Place Like Home - part 1
home vs. professional studios

When recording devices were the size of washing machines, having a professional studio in one's bedroom or apartment was a little impractical.
