Don't waste studio time!
and... do you need a producer
?

Making a recording is a tangle of pragmatism, technology, alchemy and faith. As is the case with any creative venture, you cannot know what you'll get for your efforts until you go through the process; it's always a gamble. Having a plan and a budget can be really useful.

No Place Like Home - part 1
home vs. professional studios

When recording devices were the size of washing machines, having a professional studio in one's bedroom or apartment was a little impractical. With the advent of hard disk recording, sometimes the most practical place in the world to record is, in fact, one's home. My how things have changed! by B. Kapham - Article
No Place Like Home - part 2
home vs. professional studios

One of the things I like best about working in a great studio is having immediate access to mass quantities of obscure, expensive equipment. If you've never been in the luxuriant position of having more great gear than you can use, you haven't yet fulfilled your destiny as a recording engineer.

You are the machine

Find Me Fighting ThemWhat is there left to say? Our meanings & our existence is based around the idea that we are all to grow into a career, have children, and live a life that preaches: "we're all safe, we are all safe on this side."

Becoming the machine is easy. Get up, work, come home, experience a sometimes fake happiness that is provided only by the material items or people who insulate you from what you really are needing to become.

Pouring from the inside out, everyone begins to run away from their safe existence at some point. While dressed in work regalia you tape your thoughts into a new photo in a travel catalog, or aspiration.

C'mon. How can you know if you are walking when YOU ARE THE MACHINE?

Take this song. It is off of our upcoming release. Please, review it and send us your feedback. This cd is everything that has ever happened to a person who you have seen fall down the drain. into a spiral of working, living, and materialism.

Happily Ever After at The Rockit Room

Happily Ever AfterAt the Rockit Room Sunday May 18th - 8PM

Poppy, hooky , intense and often upbeat. Music that immediately takes hold of the ear and soul. Steeped in the fun and flamboyance of the 80s, the revolution of 90s rock and dance, and passionately enamored and enthralled by the electronic sounds, heavy beats, and cross genre melding that is happening now, Happily Ever After is blindly following their hearts...

"Irony & Pity" tracks streaming on Myspace!

Jonathan Meek & the MutesBand: Jonathan Meek & the Mutes

Irony & Pity is completely DIY: recorded and mixed in the local church where Jonathan's dad preaches. It's credited to Jonathan Meek & the Mutes, but nearly every note recorded was performed by Jonathan himself. His brother, Nathaniel Meek, lent his talents as a drummer for two of the five tracks, and Mike Mittelstedt, Jonathan's fellow band member in the San Francisco group the Fair Saints, engineered and co-produced. "Having [Mike] there engineering and giving me feedback gave me such enormous freedom and confidence, so that a lot of the record could just fall into place. Most of what you hear was written right there during the session." The energy and the feel of the music make it hard for the listener to believe that only three people were involved in producing it; and clearly the inspirations for the record are literally countless.

  College Radio Stations
what can they do for my band?

In this day and age, we should be thankful that college radio still exists, static-y and awkward though it may be. While commercial frequencies pump the same boring playlists into every city, and in many cases have ceased to provide live, local DJs to give the station any personality (be it comments on local bands, events, or even the weather), college radio provides unique, local voices to the airwaves and internet. - read the rest of the article here
