about

The Deli is an independent publication and website that focuses on local indie music scenes and emerging artists (from rock to folk, with a little bit of hip hop). It currently publishes a printed magazine about the NYC and LA music scenes and has daily updated, separate webpages tackling new emerging music in various cities, including NYC, LA, SF, Chicago, Porltand, Austin and Nashville.

What is The Deli SF?
The Deli SF is a daily updated web site focused on the independent music scene of the SF Bay Area.

Mission Statement
The Deli SF is a resource for bay area musical artists and fans. We want to be a place where bands share their music with others, and where fans make their own decisions about what local music they enjoy.

CD Submission Policy
The Deli SF only reviews music from artists based in the SF Bay Area and its surroundings.

* Before you mail music in physical form, PLEASE consider digital submissions to sfeditor@thedelimagazine.com. This saves time, money, and most importantly, is much more environmentally-friendly.

After that, to submit your CDs via mail:
The Deli Magazine
5497 Claremont Ave. Apt. B
Oakland, CA 94618

OR, you can post mp3s and a blurb about your band on the Open Blog.

Jonny MF Glass - SF Writer

Michael Bang
Michael is Bay Area writer and musician who recently got his Bachelor of Arts in music composition from UCLA. He's also in a band called The Riot Professor. He likes taking it to the limit and things that make no sense but also a ton of sense.

Shauna Keddy
Shauna is a native of the East Bay and considers music to be life. She is currently studying English, Writing and Rhetoric and Music History and Culture at the University of Toronto, but kicks it in the Bay Area over summers. She loves going to concerts, protests and any other kind of political or musical events. She loves the Bay Area but hopes to one day live in New York as a musical and political journalist.

Glenn Jackson
Glenn is a resident of Oakland and a true believer that the Bay Area has some really amazing music! Glenn can usually be found where good music, food, and/or beer can also be found.

Liz Iversen - SF Writer
Liz is a writer, photographer and videographer. A native Midwesterner, she enjoys headphones, tea lattes and public transportation.

Ada Lann - SF Writer
Ada Lann is particularly upset to not have been born at the right time to be in England in the 70s, and at the forefront of punk rock in tiny dingy London pubs; but, has learned to get over this with the help of a lot of whiskey and repeatedly bashing against the wall while listening to London Calling. Ada is quite fond of painfully loud shows, warm alcoholic drinks, and making fun of hippies. Now a San Francisco resident, Ada is excited to watch as the local music scene revitalizes itself.
